Your Questions, Answered

  • I offer individual counseling for adolescents and adults. My sessions are designed to help you meet your goals—everything is tailored to foster growth with clarity and confidence. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

  • Getting started is simple. I’m a solo practitioner, meaning when you contact my practice you contact ME. Consultations are the first step in exploring working together. To arrange a complementary consultation email: colleen@peakperspectivescounseling.com. Alternatively you can give me a call or send a text message to my HIPAA-compliant phone 602-456-9283

  • A lot! Honing my therapeutic skills for a decade in hospital emergency rooms means I know the importance of being engaged and direct. I’m not in session just to nod my head and offer platitudes. Change requires us to be uncomfortable so I challenge my clients to consider alternative perspectives, acknowledge long-standing negative patterns, and even share a lighthearted laugh when things get heavy.

Clients often describe my approach as collaborative and authentic. I combine a thoughtful, human-centered approach with clear communication.

  • As a solo practitoner, I don’t have the demands of seeing 30 clients a week. And I know from experience, that isn’t what’s best for me or my clients. I can’t be a burned out therapist who specializes in burn out. Instead, I limit my sessions per week and maintain a wait list when necessary. Clients come to therapy to do the work and it’s important to me that I do too.

  • I aim to make counseling financially accessible however I can. I am in network with Aetna, Lyra, and Modern Health. Clients also have the option to use FSA and HSA funds. I am able to bill out of network for any commercial insurance as well. Additionally, arrangements can be made for shortened sessions (when appropriate) that are cost effective. A 30 min session means we’re jumping right in and can be just as meaningful as a traditional 50 min session.

  • Yes! I am trained and certified as an EMDR therapist and I find it to be quite helpful for certain issues and for certain clients. I will see clients explicity for EMDR, though typically I weave EMDR concepts into sessions with long term clients.
